The Newcastle United winger was linked with a move to Stoke City during last summer’s transfer window.

Stoke City are ready to make ‘an ambitious move’ for the Newcastle United winger, Matt Ritchie, according to The Sun.
Stoke were linked with Ritchie during last summer’s transfer window (The Sun) but the Scotland international remained at Newcastle, where he has started all but three Premier League matches this season.
But despite having replaced their then manager, Gary Rowett, with Nathan Jones midway through the campaign, it is claimed the Potters are continuing to ‘closely monitor’ Ritchie.
And the newspaper adds Jones ‘will swoop’ for the 29-year-old if he is made available.

It is unclear how much Stoke would have to pay for Ritchie, who has two years left on his Newcastle contract and has yet to agree an extension.
A £15 million transfer fee was mooted a year ago – as well as a £4-million-a-year salary (The Sun) – and Jones will be given a ‘decent budget’ this time around despite Stoke’s failure to return to the Premier League, according to The Sun.
