Peter Crouch could have one last Premier League club in him as Championship outfit Stoke City offer him to Sean Dyche’s Burnley.
Peter Crouch could seal a shock return to the Premier League this month, according to The Mail, with a move to Burnley on the cards.
The giant centre-forward has represented Aston Villa, Southampton, Portsmouth, Tottenham and Liverpool in the top flight and, despite turning 38 on Wednesday, could have one last shot at the big time.
It is understood that Stoke have offered Burnley the chance to sign Crouch before Thursday’s transfer deadline as part of a deal that would see Sam Vokes go the other way for around £9 million.
However, it remains to be seen whether Sean Dyche is keen to work with the veteran, who has 42 caps and scored 22 goals for the England national team.
But Burnley could be the perfect club for 6ft 7ins Crouch, given their reputation for well-worked set-pieces. The likes of Johan Berg Gudmundsson, Robbie Brady and Matthew Lowton, who can all drop a cross onto a sixpence, would surely relish forging a partnership with one of the tallest players in English football.
Interestingly, Wales international Vokes appeared to wave farewell to Burnley fans at the end of Tuesday’s dramatic 2-2 draw at Manchester United.
