Davies was brought to Derby County by Stoke City manager Gary Rowett.
Stoke City failed with a bid for Derby County captain Curtis Davies last week, according to the Daily Mirror (liveblog entry 09:27).
Stoke are said to have offered £1.5 million for Davies – a year after he moved from Hull City for three times less than that amount.
But the 33-year-old has now signed a one-year extension to his Pride Park deal, after, the Daily Mirror reports, a barrage of phone calls and emails from the Rams owner Mel Morris throughout the summer.
And that should be enough to keep at bay Gary Rowett – the Stoke manager and who brought Davies to Derby.
According to the Daily Mirror, Davies has agreed improved terms to bring him into line with the Rams’ top earners, on a contract until 2020 that could be extended by a further year based on appearances.
And it is claimed Davies’ deal will end Derby’s interest in signing John Terry, who is a close friend and former colleague of new boss Frank Lampard.
