Stoke City are said to want Hughton as Nathan Jones’ replacement after the former left Brighton and Hove Albion earlier this year.

Stoke City face ‘a huge challenge’ to tempt the former Brighton and Hove Albion manager Chris Hughton into taking charge at the Bet365 Stadium, according to The Daily Mirror (October 3, page 58).
The current Stoke boss, Nathan Jones, is described as being ‘a dead man walking’ after Tuesday’s home defeat to the Potters’ relegation rivals, Huddersfield Town.
That was Jones’ 29th winless game out of 33 since his January arrival from Luton Town, and Hughton is one of several managers being connected to the Welshman’s job after leaving Brighton in May.
But it is claimed that he, like the Stoke-linked former West Ham United boss David Moyes, wants a Premier League club, meaning Potters will have to ‘dig deep’ to get him.

Other names said to be in the frame are Tony Pulis, who has managed Stoke twice already, and the Charlton Athletic boss Lee Bowyer.
Jones was, ironically, part of Hughton’s coaching staff at Brighton.
