Stoke City could reportedly target Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Danny Batth.

According to a report from The Sun on Sunday (27/1; page 63), Stoke could bid for Wolves defender Danny Batth should they fail in their bid to sign Matt Clarke.

Nathan Jones appears to be keen to make the most of the final days of his first window at the bet365 Stadium, and has a host of defensive targets on his radar.

Clarke is, according to The Sun on Sunday (27/1; page 63), their top target. But with Portsmouth reportedly demanding £5 million, the Potters are prepared to look at bidding for the Wolves-owned centre-back.

The Sun on Sunday adds that Stoke could also turn their attention to Liam Lindsay.

Nuno Espirito Santo the manager

Batth is currently away from Molineux, out on loan with Stoke’s Championship rivals Middlesbrough. He has made 10 appearances for Tony Pulis’ side, with one of his standout performances coming against his current admirers back in November.

If Nuno Espirito Santo decides that Batth has little chance of having a future at Wolves, then perhaps he may be tempted to sanction a permanent move if Stoke come forward with a bid this month.

And if Jones’ men look to sign Batth permanently, then it will be interesting to see whether Boro make their own move given that he has not always been a regular fixture in Pulis’ lineup.
