Everton were said to be willing to buy Stoke City winger Marko Arnautovic’s release clause.

According to the Daily Express, Stoke City winger Marko Arnautovic has indicated to Everton that he has no interest in moving to Goodison Park.
Everton were prepared to meet Arnautovic’s release clause in his current contract, but it seems that a deal is not likely.
The Austrian winger is keen to remain with Stoke, and looks set to sign an improved contract at the Britannia Stadium.

Arnautovic had been one of new Everton manager Ronald Koeman’s top targets, but he will have to look elsewhere now.
Everton have £100 million to spend this summer, but they have been fairly inactive in the transfer window so far.
Stoke, meanwhile, are prepared to offer Arnautovic £80,000-a-week to try and end any speculation over his future.

Arnautovic was one of Stoke’s stand out performers last season, when he consistently performed to a high level.
Despite Arnautovic’s reported rejection, Everton could still be about to make an addition in the transfer window, with Aston Villa’s Idrissa Gueye seemingly heading towards Merseyside.
