Stoke City have been linked with making a move for West Bromwich Albion’s Saido Berahino for a prolonged period of time now.
According to a report in the Telegraph, Stoke City are set to move for West Bromwich Albion forward Saido Berahino in January.
Berahino has been linked with a move to Stoke for the past two transfer windows, but no deal has been agreed between the two clubs.
However, the Potters are preparing to step up their efforts to sign Berahino now, as Mark Hughes is concerned about being left short up-front.
Stoke reportedly fear that they could lose Wilfried Bony, with teams from China interested in singing the powerful forward from Manchester City.
At the moment Bony is on loan at Stoke, but if a permanent deal becomes available the Ivorian could move elsewhere.
Bony’s departure from Stoke would leave Hughes short of options in attack, and Berahino is already being lined up as a potential transfer target.
Berahino has barely featured for West Brom this season, with his fitness being called into question by Tony Pulis.
The Burundi born forward also struggled to show his top form at the Baggies last term, when transfer speculation seemed to divert his focus.
However, Hughes is confident he could get Berahino back to his best, and Stoke reportedly intend to make a bid for the Albion forward at the next opportunity.
