New manager Paul Lambert is seemingly determined to keep hold of Stoke’s utlity man.

Stoke City have blocked a late swoop from Crystal Palace for Geoff Cameron, according to the Stoke Sentinel.
The Sentinel claims that there has also been interest in the USA international defender from Newcastle United and West Ham United, but that Palace were the only team to make an approach for him in this transfer window.

The report adds that both inquiries from the Eagles were batted away by Stoke, who would not even consider selling the 32-year-old to a relegation rival because they think his experience and versatility can be a huge asset.
Cameron has made 181 appearances in six years at the Potters across the full-back, centre-half and holding midfield positions, and was a second-half substitute for new manager Paul Lambert’s debut win over Huddersfield Town.

Palace have been hit by defensive injuries to Mamadou Sakho and captain Scott Dann, and may have been trying to acquire cover on the cheap by moving for Cameron, only to be thwarted by Stoke’s strong response.
Instead the Londoners might be forced to splash the cash on Lille skipper Ibrahim Amadou, with Sky Sports claiming that a £16m offer has been lodged for another player who has also been on West Ham’s radar this month.
