The Manchester United winger could replace Markko Arnautovic at Stoke City.
The Potters are set to lose Marko Arnautovic to West Ham United, and manager Mark Hughes is said to see Young as the ideal candidate to fill the void created by the Austrian winger’s exit.
Manchester United’s Ashley Young
Young may find his United place under threat if Jose Mourinho succeeds in his alleged pursuit of Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic, and a short move down the M6 could appeal to the 32-year-old.
Young, a 30-cap England international, has also appeared at left-back in his time – a position in which Stoke are lacking experienced bodies beyond Erik Pieters – and has scored or assisted 122 goals in 297 Premier League outings for Watford, Aston Villa and Manchester United.
Stoke City’s Marko Arnautovic
The Sun reports that Stoke will receive £24 million for Arnautovic, who scored or assisted 11 league goals last season, and the Potters can expect to pay significantly less than that for Young, with the United man’s contract up at the end of the coming campaign.
Would Manchester United’s Ashley Young be a good signing for Stoke City?
