According to The Mirror (16/08, p64), Leeds United could send defender Leif Davis out on loan this summer for first-team experience.

It’s stated that Stoke City want to take Davis on loan, and they are currently Leeds’ preferred option as they seek a suitor.

League One side Portsmouth are also keen on Davis, but Leeds may prefer to get him playing in the Championship.

Davies is contracted at Leeds until 2023, so a permanent move seems unlikely, especially as he is tipped for big things at Elland Road.

Davis, 20, joined Leeds from Morecambe in 2018, having previously come through the famed Wallsend Boys Club near Newcastle.

Capable of playing at centre back or left back, Davis has now made 10 first-team appearances under Marcelo Bielsa.

Davis is unlikely to feature in the Premier League though after Leeds won promotion, and he may well head to Stoke in order to play regularly this coming season.
