It is claimed the former Watford manager could earn £3.5-million-a-year at Stoke City.

Stoke City are in talks with former Watford manager Quique Sanchez Flores about succeeding Mark Hughes, the Sun reports (page 50 of Thursday’s printed edition).
It is claimed that Stoke chairman Peter Coates, along with chief executive Tony Scholes and director of football Mark Cartwright, travelled to Barcelona to speak to Flores, who is managing the city’s other club, Espanyol.

And Coates is said to be willing to pay £4 million to buy the Spaniard out of his contract, with a deal worth £3.5-million-a-year – plus bonuses if Stoke stay up – reportedly on offer at the Bet365 Stadium.
According to the Sun, Coates wanted Flores, who led Watford to 13th in their first season back in the Premier League, before Hughes’ departure after Saturday’s FA Cup defeat against Coventry City.

It is claimed the 52-year-old, who led Espanyol to eighth in La Liga last season, has ‘unfinished business’ in England.
Coates is said to want him in charge for Stoke’s trip to Manchester United on Monday evening.
