Report: Stoke City considering Spartak Moscow’s Serdar Tasci

Tasci almost moved to England in January and could get another chance to do so with Stoke City.

Stoke City are considering Spartak Moscow’s Serdar Tasci as a possible alternative to Bruno Martins Indi, according to The Mail.

Martins Indi spent last season on loan at the Bet365 Stadium and was expected to return, but Stoke’s deadline to sign him on a permanent basis is since said to have elapsed.

It remains to be seen whether the Potters will pursue a deal for the Porto player, who has been linked with moves to several clubs in the meantime.

And with another coveted centre-back, Ryan Shawcross, entering the final year of his contract in Staffordshire, Tasci’s name appears to have entered the fray.

The Daily Mail reports the Germany international, who was strongly linked with moves to Southampton and Crystal Palace in January, is available for as little as £3 million.

However, as reported at the time by the same publication, Tasci’s £3 million tax-free wage demands are what scuppered his chances of signing for either Saints or Palace, and Stoke could encounter a similar problem.

The 30-year-old started his career at VFB Stuttgart before moving to Spartak in 2013, returning to the Bundesliga three years later for a loan spell at Pep Guardiola’s Bayern Munich.
