Ex-Rangers attacker Steven Naismith could be set to return to Ibrox, with Hearts.
The Scottish Herald have claimed Hearts attacker Steven Naismith will recover from a hamstring injury to play against former side Rangers at Ibrox on Saturday.
Naismith, 31, joined Hearts on loan until the end of the 2017-18 campaign despite being linked with a return to Rangers, after falling down the pecking order at parent club Norwich City in the English Championship.
The 45-time Scotland international has missed Hearts’ last two outings against Ross County in the league and St. Johnstone in the Scottish Cup with a hamstring injury, but has returned to training this week ahead of Saturday’s clash.
He is expected to be declared fit ahead of Saturday’s match, which will see the former Everton striker finally return to Ibrox six years after leaving the club in 2012.
Naismith was one of the players to depart the Gers at the height of their financial troubles which saw them forced to restart in the fourth tier of Scottish football, as he refused to allow his contract to be transferred to the new company.
He scored 33 goals in 132 games for the Gers, but will now be looking to open his account for Hearts at Ibrox with a chorus of boos likely to greet Naismith’s every touch of the ball.
