Rangers youngster Josh McPake is on the radar of two clubs, who have asked the Ibrox outfit about signing him this summer, according to The Scottish Sun.

Ayr United and Greenock Morton are interested in signing McPake on loan from Rangers in the summer transfer window, according to the report.

It has been claimed that the two Scottish Championship clubs have asked the Gers about a season-long loan deal for the 18-year-old winger.

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard rates the teenager highly, but the Liverpool legend is keen for the youngster to get more playing time this season, according to the report.

Leaving Rangers on loan

McPake is a very talented and promising young winger who has a bright future ahead of him.

However, the winger is not going to get much playing time for the Gers this season, and it would make sense for him to go out on loan.

The Scottish Championship is a very competitive domestic league, and both Ayr and Morton are ambitious clubs.

Meanwhile, Rangers manager Gerrard has raved about defender Leon Balogun for his debut for the Gers against Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday afternoon.

HeraldScotland quotes Gerrard as saying: “For Leon’s debut, away at Pittodrie, being in the door a week, it was outstanding and I am very pleased for him. He got a round of applause in the dressing room which was thoroughly deserved.”
