Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers really want to sign Kyle Lafferty, but getting a deal wrapped up is proving difficult as he could be expensive.

Steven Gerrard is unveiled as the new manager of Rangers football Club at Ibrox Stadium on May 4, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

According to the Scotsman, it is Steven Gerrard who is pushing hard for Glasgow Rangers to sign Kyle Lafferty.

Rangers had a bid of £200,000 rejected by Hearts for the striker weeks ago, and negotiations went quiet briefly afterwards.

However, Gerrard has reportedly told Rangers board to try and do a deal again now, as he really wants Lafferty at Ibrox with him.

Hearts reportedly are willing to do business over the forward, but they are keen not to lose him on the cheap to Rangers.

Rangers, therefore, face paying £750,000 for the forward, with Hearts refusing to budge on their asking price.

Whether Rangers will meet that fee for a player who has just one year left on his contract remains to be seen.

Lafferty is understood to be keen on a return to Ibrox, and his arrival would add competition for places up-front for Gerrard’s side.

Alfredo Morelos has led the line well for Rangers so far this season, but Lafferty would offer Gerrard a different threat in forward areas.
