Former Ibrox midfielder Steven Davis is open to joining Steven Gerrard’s Rangers in the January transfer window, according to The Daily Mail.

Rangers are interested in signing Davis from Premier League club Southampton in January, claims the report.

Good signing for Rangers?

Davis is struggling for playing time at Southampton at the moment, and one can understand why the former Rangers midfielder is reportedly open to returning to Ibrox.

After a loan spell at Rangers from Fulham in 2008, the Northern Ireland international midfielder joined the Gers on a permanent contract.

The 33-year-old – who earns £60,000 per week as salary, according to Spotrac.com – was successful during his time at Rangers before leaving for Southampton in 2012.

Rangers could do with an experienced midfielder in the team, especially as the Gers have a genuine chance of winning the Scottish Premiership title this season.

However, given that Davis is 33 years of age, maybe Rangers should sign the midfielder initially on a loan deal until the end of the season.
