Newcastle United want Khephren Thuram with Steve Nickson understood to be driving interest in the Nice midfielder.
Newcastle showing strong Khephren Thuram interest
The Athletic report that Newcastle are interested in both Khephren and Marcus Thuram.
Whilst Marcus can leave Borussia Monchengladbach for nothing this summer, Khephren would cost a fee to get out of Nice.
It’s suggested that Newcastle head of recruitment is a big fan of the younger Thuram ahead of the summer window.
Newcastle’s interest in Thuram has been bubbling for months.
The Daily Mail claimed in December that Newcastle were looking at Thuram for the January window.
No deal materialised but The Athletic also noted that Thuram had been watched by Newcastle.
The suggestion then was that Eddie Howe wanted more Premier League-proven players, so Nickson may face a battle to push through a move for Thuram.

Double Thuram deal make sense for Magpies
Howe may like his proven Premier League players but Newcastle have invested in top imports like Bruno Guimaraes, Sven Botman and Alexander Isak.
Thuram fits that bill having impressed for Nice as an all-action midfielder this season.
Thuram has a huge frame at 6ft 4in tall and has recorded 1.5 tackles per game as well as one interception per game.
Add in two goals and four assists and Thuram could be moulded into anything Newcastle want.
Nice boss Didier Digard has certainly been impressed, hailing Thuram as ‘fantastic’ on and off the pitch.
Then there is brother Marcus, who can offer an option out wide and up front for Newcastle.
The Frenchman has been outstanding for Gladbach this season, racking up 12 goals in 24 appearances.
Landing both Thuram brother can solve some issues for Newcastle and bring in two players who already know each other very, very well.
