According to The Chronicle, Newcastle United’s head of recruitment Steve Nickson likes the look of Motherwell midfielder David Turnbull.
Reports emerged from the Daily Record earlier this month claiming that Steve Bruce is particularly interested in bringing Turnbull to Newcastle.
It now seems that head of recruitment Nickson is in agreement with Bruce as Newcastle consider swooping for the Scottish talent this summer.
Turnbull, 21, smashed 16 goals and seven assists for Motherwell in the 2018-19 campaign, emerging as one of the top talents in Scotland.
Celtic had agreed to sign Turnbull last summer, but a knee issue picked up in his medical meant that he was forced to undergo surgery – and only returned in February.
Turnbull has since penned a new deal with Motherwell until 2022, but it seems likely that he will make a move somewhere in the near future.

Either a box-to-box midfielder or number 10, Turnbull has huge potential, and could be a similar signing to John McGinn, a player Bruce brought to Aston Villa in 2018.
Celtic are still keen on Turnbull and could return with a new £3million move, but with Nickson and Bruce both keen, Newcastle are a major threat.
