New Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce is targeting a move for Manchester United goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, according to the Daily Mail.
The former Hull City boss took charge at Villa Park this week following the departure of Roberto di Matteo.
The Italian left the club after just one win in 12 games and with the club sitting just two points clear of the relegation zone.

Manchester United’s Sam Johnstone warms up
The newspaper reports that he knows a strong defence will be key to Villa’s resurgence and wants Johnstone to be the man behind it, ahead of Pierluigi Gollini, Mark Bunn and Jed Steer.
The 23-year-old is highly rated at Old Trafford but Jose Mourinho wants him to gain more experience so as to sufficiently challenge David de Gea and Sergio Romero in future.
