According to a report on the Birmingham Mail, Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce is still unconvinced by Neil Taylor.

Taylor started Villa’s first game of the season against Hull City, but has not featured in the league since.

And Bruce is now said to have serious doubts about utilising the 29-year-old regularly.

Bruce has now reportedly made signing a new defender one of his top priorities over the remainder of the transfer window.

Villa have made no secret that they are in negotiations to add further quality to their squad, as they look to push to promotion.

Villa have money to spend after their takeover, with additions looking likely in the coming days.

And the Birmingham Mail seem to suggest that Taylor could find himself further down the pecking order soon.
