Newcastle United are set to appoint Steve Bruce after he resigned from his job at Sheffield Wednesday.

According to the Northern Echo, Steve Bruce has made his first big call as Newcastle United manager by sanctioning a deal for Joelinton, after resigning from his post at Sheffield Wednesday.
Bruce is yet to takeover as Newcastle boss, but has reportedly given the club permission to press on with a deal for the Brazilian target-man.
Newcastle are now thought to be set to break their transfer record in Bruce’s first move as Magpies boss.
Rafael Benitez was always pushing for Newcastle to sign more expensive players, but he never spent more than £30 million on any target, with Miguel Almiron his record buy during his time at St. James’ Park.
Bruce is set to spend £36 million on Joelinton though, the Mail has suggested.

Joelinton will be under big pressure if he arrives at Newcastle, as the club have already lost their two top scorers from last season in the form of Ayoze Perez and Salomon Rondon.
Newcastle’s strike options look short and Joelinton will need to hit the ground running if the Magpies are to be successful this term.
