Newcastle United are set to appoint Steve Bruce following his resignation at Sheffield Wednesday.

According to the Northern Echo, Steve Bruce genuinely believes that he can turn around Newcastle United fans’ opinions of him.

Bruce resigned from his job at Sheffield Wednesday yesterday, and is expected to arrive at Newcastle in the coming days.

The news of Bruce’s impending arrival has caused further frustration around St. James’ Park after the departure of Rafael Benitez.

There is a feeling around Newcastle from many supporters that Bruce is a huge downgrade on Benitez.

Bruce is said to know that he is not exactly popular on Tyneside right now, but sources close to him have suggested that he truly believes he can change opinions.

If Bruce is to do so, then Newcastle will surely need to have an incredible season.

The Magpies don’t look in the best position to do that, after losing key players this summer, and starting pre-season without a permanent manager in place.

However, Bruce has confidence in his own ability, and wants to get to work sooner rather than later at St. James’ Park.
