The Greek international was released from Olympiakos at the end of January.
Goalkeeper, Stefanos Kapino of Greece
Nottingham Forest are reportedly all set to sign Greek goalkeeper Stefanos Kapino on a free transfer, according to reports in his homeland. Sport.fm are suggesting that Forest have agreed terms with the player, who is already in the UK ahead of a medical.
It is a deal that may come as some surprise considering Forest have already signed a new goalkeeper, with Costel Pantilimon arriving on loan from Watford until the end of the season, but Forest boss Aitor Karanka obviously felt the club needed to bring in another stopper.
Olympiacos’ goalkeeper Stefanos Kapino
Kapino will be well known to the Forest owner and chairman Evangelos Marinakis, who of course owns Olympiakos in Greece. Kapino was an Olympiakos player for three years but was released from his contract on deadline day, allowing him to find a free transfer elsewhere even after the window was shut.
At just 23-years-old it would appear Forest are making this a signing for the future and Kapino, who has previously played for Mainz in Germany and Olympiakos’ main rivals Panathinaikos, also has nine caps for the Greek national team under his belt.
It will certainly be interesting to see if this deal does come about, and how Forest and Karanka decide to use the Greek international stopper.
