Aston Villa reportedly won’t have a shot at keeping Tammy Abraham.

According to The Sun, Tammy Abraham has told Aston Villa that he won’t be returning next season, instead feeling that he needs to push for playing time at Chelsea.
Villa landed a major coup back in August 2018, taking Abraham on a season-long loan move after no Premier League switch materialised for the young striker.
The 21-year-old was a goalscoring machine for Villa, scoring 26 goals in 40 games for the club, helping fire them to the Premier League under Dean Smith.
Villa understandably now want to keep Abraham for next season, but The Sun claim that Abraham has communicated to Villa boss Dean Smith and coach John Terry that whilst he appreciates how they’ve developed him, he won’t be coming back.
It’s stated that Abraham wants to aim higher for now, and wouldn’t forgive himself if he didn’t make a concerted effort to become Chelsea’s leading striker next term.

The stars appear to be aligning for Abraham in that sense. Olivier Giroud has re-signed, but Gonzalo Higuain is heading back to Juventus, and Chelsea’s transfer ban means that Abraham will come back with a real shot at first-team football.
If this is true, it’s a blow for Villa, but they’ll be watching his playing time at Chelsea closely, knowing that they’ll stand a great shot at signing Abraham in the future if he does’t get the playing time he wants.
