Newcastle United are still fighting to keep Rafael Benitez.

According to The Chronicle, Newcastle United players have new belief that Rafael Benitez will be staying at the club this summer.
The Magpies ended their season with a 4-0 win over Fulham last week, but the attention immediately turned to sorting out Benitez’s future.
Benitez is out of contract in a matter of weeks, meaning the pressure is on Mike Ashley to get a deal done to keep the Spaniard at St James’ Park.
After three years on Tyneside, Benitez is a hero with the Newcastle faithful, but with a limited budget at his disposal, he may well be lured away for a more ambitious project.
The Chronicle now report that Benitez has spoken to his players following the end of the season, and his comments have given renewed hope to the squad that he’ll be staying.
It’s stated that Benitez intriguingly told the players that he would see them in July for pre-season training, and promised to keep in touch with the players over the summer – two things that wouldn’t really be in his plans if he was leaving.

Benitez added another promise, telling outgoing players that he and his staff would help find them new clubs, all interesting comments which point towards him staying and committing his future to the Magpies.
That would be a huge deal for Newcastle, and give fans hope that he has been promised some money to spend in this summer’s transfer market in order to take the club forward.
