Report states what Christian Eriksen has told his agent about leaving Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur may be fretting about the future of playmaker Christian Eriksen.

According to The Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Christian Eriksen has told agent Martin Schoots that he will only leave for a top Spanish club.

Spurs landed Eriksen back in August 2013 having emerged as a top talent with Ajax, and he has more than lived up to his billing with Tottenham,

The Dane has been an assist king at Spurs whilst also bagging 62 goals in more than 250 appearances, becoming a firm fan favourite.

Few Spurs players possess his creativity, making him incredibly difficult to replace – and Tottenham will hope that they never have to realise that.

Eriksen’s contract expires at the end of next season, and there is little news in terms of an extension, leaving many to worry about his future in North London.

Now, The Mirror report that Eriksen has told his agent Schoots that he would only want to leave Spurs in order to join one of the top Spanish clubs – seemingly just Barcelona or Real Madrid, rather than throwing Atletico Madrid into the mix.

Either of those teams would surely love to have Eriksen’s creativity in their ranks, but Tottenham do still have time to work out a new deal with the 26-year-old.

They certainly won’t want to head into the final year of his deal with no new contract signed though, meaning a summer exit may not be out of all realms of possibility.

Eriksen may feel that he can earn exponentially more elsewhere, but at least other Premier League teams appear to have been ruled out by his desire to play in La Liga.
