Tottenham Hotspur are through to the Carabao Cup final after beating Brentford 2-0 at home on Tuesday night.

Spurs appeared to have a golden chance at a Wembley final, and took the lead in the first half when Moussa Sissoko headed home Sergio Reguilon’s cross.

Ivan Toney’s disallowed goal was a scare for Spurs, but they booked their place in the final with Son Heung-min firing home Tanguy Ndombele’s pass.

Spurs will now have dreams of ending their trophy drought, but it wasn’t all good news following their comfortable win over the Championship side.

Midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg was forced off with a nasty injury to his shin, having been on the receiving end of a dangerous challenge by Josh Dasilva.

Dasilva was given a straight red card for his challenge, with Hojbjerg left bloodied as he hobbled down the tunnel – an injury that Spurs will hope isn’t too serious.

The Independent now report that Spurs boss Jose Mourinho was shouting that the challenge was a ‘disgrace’, demanding action to be taking against the former Arsenal midfielder.

He got his wish with the red card, but he will now face an anxious wait to see if Hojbjerg is fit to play against Marine in the FA Cup this weekend.
