Tottenham Hotspur’s Christian Eriksen has snubbed a move to Manchester United.

According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Christian Eriksen promised Daniel Levy he wouldn’t play for another London club – and then stretched that to English club.

Spurs are hoping to tie up a deal for Giovani Lo Celso today, but questions will be asked about the future of Eriksen as a result.

The Danish playmaker is out of contract next summer, meaning he could leave Spurs for free, and Levy would surely rather cash in now.

Manchester United subsequently attempted a deal for Eriksen, but he rejected them earlier this week – and it’s believed to be in part because of the promise he gave Levy.

It’s stated that Eriksen and agent Rob Schoots told Levy in 2017 that he would never play for another London club, and when United wanted him this week, he told them he wasn’t prepared to play for another English club at all.

Eriksen allegedly has too much respect for Spurs to go and play for a Premier League rival, having spent six successful years with the club.

United will be gutted, but Eriksen stuck to his word and won’t be facing Spurs in the Premier League next season, but may still be on his way out.

Atletico Madrid now want Eriksen, and with plenty of time to go in the Spanish market, no deal needs to be done right away, but Spurs may be forced to slash their asking price given his contract situation.
