Newcastle United reportedly won’t be moving for Slavisa Jokanovic.

According to The Chronicle, Newcastle United won’t be pursuing Slavisa Jokanovic as a potential successor to Rafael Benitez.

The Magpies announced last week that Benitez is leaving St James’ Park, and with his contract expiring yesterday, the Spaniard has moved on.

Newcastle must now find a replacement, and with Magpies fans raging at Benitez’s exit, they need to bring in a high-profile successor to even come close to Benitez.

Last week, The Northern Echo reported that Jokanovic was interested in the job, but it’s now believed that Newcastle have no plans to pursue the Serbian.

They add a conflicting report, suggesting that Jokanovic has no plans to go for the job anyway, as he just became manager of Al-Gharafa in Qatar.

That kind of sums up Jokanovic’s managerial career. The 50-year-old has managed in Serbia with Partizan Belgrade, Thailand with Muangthong United, Bulgaria with Levski Sofia, Spain with Hercules, England with Watford and Fulham, Isreal with Maccabi Tel Aviv and now Qatar.

His nomadic managerial career is something of a concern for any club making long-term plans, and his recent Premier League struggles with Fulham may have left Newcastle uninterested.

Jorge Jesus is another boss who has just made a move, to Flamengo in his case, and he won’t be pursuing the job either, with Newcastle scrambling for options as they seek a quick appointment.
