Tottenham Hotspur are yet to agree a fee for Tanguy Ndombele.
Tanguy Ndombele appears to be Tottenham Hotspur’s priority and Sky Sports report the club is closing in on a move for the midfielder.
The report states though that there is no fee yet agreed with Lyon.
The Mail report Lyon have set an asking price. Their report claims the French side want £70 million.
They claim Spurs have opened talks, but the two teams are far apart in terms of valuation.
Interest from rival clubs is likely to keep the price high.
Ndombele is one of the best defensive midfielders in Europe of his age, and at just 22, he is a terrific prospect.
Tottenham’s record deal is the £42 million they paid for Davinson Sanchez two summers ago.
Last year they did not sign anybody, and still managed to reach the Champions League final.
This has whetted the appetite for big spending this summer. If Spurs can muster up the £70 million then it would be money well spent, and an impressive way to address supporter doubt.
£70m would be sensible
Over the past couple of months, various fees have been mooted for Ndombele.
L’Equipe reported Lyon wanted £87 million for the midfielder, 100 million Euros.
The Sun then reported at the weekend that Spurs felt they could land Ndombele for just £50 million.
This seemed ambitious, and it’s apparent this won’t be enough to get the France international.
£70 million is more appropriate and if Tottenham are serious about signing him, then they should pay what is required, or watch and see another club land him.
