According to The Guardian, Thomas Partey thinks he can express himself more at Arsenal – and the deal has been a long, long time in the making.
It’s claimed that Arsenal hosted Partey’s representatives way back in April 2019, as the Gunners took on Napoli in the Europa League.
Partey’s move to North London has been a ‘waiting game’ ever since then, and the Ghanaian finally got his move to Arsenal on Monday night.
Partey has allegedly been watching Arsenal’s games since Arsenal’s interest became clear 18 months ago, showing his commitment to joining the Gunners eventually.
The 27-year-old allegedly feels that he will now have the chance to truly express himself at Arsenal, having played a more reserved role under Diego Simeone at Atletico Madrid.
Partey seemingly feels he can prove that he is far more than a midfield destroyer and anchor man, believing that he can now show more of his technical and attacking ability in a more expansive system.

With all that in mind, this seems to be the perfect fit for Arsenal, with fans no doubt keen to see Partey feeling unleashed under Arteta.
The £45million fee seems more than reasonable for a player of Partey’s experience and quality, and given that he has wanted the move for a year-and-a-half, he will be desperate to impress.
