Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly ready to begin negotiating to sign Gleison Bremer this summer.

The Torino powerhouse has emerged as a transfer target for a number of Premier League outfits.

According to Tuttosport last weekend, Liverpool are favourites to sign the 24-year-old Brazilian defender.

However, Tottenham are also in the mix.

And the same Italian publication has this morning reported that both the Reds and Spurs are ‘ready’ to open talks with the Serie A outfit to sign the powerhouse.

Their interest has been complicated by a development that like the Lilywhites and Liverpool, Manchester City, the reigning Premier League champions, are also ready.

Ominous for Tottenham?

Well, kind of.

Remember, the Lilywhites might not even have Champions League football to offer Bremer come next season.

Even if Antonio Conte’s outfit do finish inside the Premier League’s top four, it’s still a long shot to consider that the North Londoners could pip Liverpool and City to Bremer’s signature.

Without Champions League qualification as a carrot, well it’s so unlikely that Spurs will stand a chance.

Bremer is very much the real deal and according to Fabrizio Romano, he’s the only defender this season to ‘destroy’ Juventus and former Fiorentina hitman Dusan Vlahovic [CBS Sport].

Anybody who can keep the Serbian marksman quiet is a serious central defender and although Tottenham undeniably need someone like the South American, the competition doesn’t make for pleasant reading.
