According to Le10sport, Saint Etienne have been in talks with Leicester City’s Nampalys Mendy over a summer move, but his wages are proving a stumbling block.
The Leicester midfielder is out of contract this summer and set to move.
Mendy joined the Foxes for a reported £10 million fee in 2016 on a four-year deal.

Arriving as a replacement for N’Golo Kante, the 27-year-old has struggled for game time with Wilfried Ndidi a regular for Brendan Rodgers’ side.
Saint Etienne boss Claude Puel knows all about Mendy from his time at Leicester in the Premier League.
The former Foxes boss is keen for his side to sign the holding midfielder this summer. However, Mendy’s wages are posing a potential problem.
The Covid-19 suspension has affected finances across football. The French top-flight failed to resume, with the season ending early unlike Germany, Spain and England.
Le10sport claim St Etienne have limited resources, while Mendy’s requests are too great.
The French editorial go on to say Udinese and Trabzonspor could offer him move.
Leicester’s record in the transfer market over the past seven or eight years has largely been excellent. Mendy, however, will be seen as a rare blip.
