Tottenham Hotspur’s transfer targets have all been picked along similar lines, say reports.
Tottenham are only looking for players below the age of 27 and that can adapt to Mauricio Pochettino’s high-tempo system, according to the Daily Mail.
Indeed, the north London club are in the market for the likes of Timo Werner and Saido Berahino to match their policy of only targeting younger players.
And the Daily Mail suggest Spurs will not look at any players this transfer window that don’t fit the two key criteria.
The only weakness
The only problem, of course, with the suggested transfer policy is a lack of experience.
Tottenham’s young side did well last season but couldn’t get over the line at the crucial moments. Some of their older performers fell flat but their younger stars needed a guiding hand and there often wasn’t anyone with any top-level experience to push them in the right direction.
Buying young, athletic players makes a lot of sense for Spurs. But the north London side also need an experienced player – ideally in midfield – with the know-how and winning mentality that can lead those younger players into battle.
