Report: Spurs willing to offload Vincent Janssen before transfer deadline, could join West Brom

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly willing to let Vincent Janssen leave the club this summer amid links to West Brom.

According to the London Evening Standard, Tottenham Hotspur will allow striker Vincent Janssen to leave the club before the transfer deadline – and West Bromwich Albion are one potential destination.

Spurs have finally added new signings to their squad this summer, having tied up a double deal for goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga and defender Davinson Sanchez on Wednesday afternoon.

Now, manager Mauricio Pochettino could look to offload some fringe players before next Thursday’s transfer deadline, with The Sun reporting that Crystal Palace are keen on goalkeeper Michel Vorm and defender Kevin Wimmer following the arrivals of Gazzaniga and Sanchez.

Another player who could leave the club is striker Vincent Janssen, with the London Evening Standard today reporting that Spurs will allow him to depart before the deadline.

Janssen, 23, was viewed as an important addition to the Spurs squad last summer, as he joined Tottenham as cover for Harry Kane having hit 31 goals in 49 games for AZ Alkmaar – but he couldn’t get close to matching that record in North London.

The Dutch international managed just six goals in 35 games for Spurs, with only two of those coming from open play as he struggled to adjust to life in the Premier League, with manager Pochettino even choosing Son Heung-min ahead of him in attack at times last term.

Now, Tottenham could cash in on Janssen, and the report notes that West Bromwich Albion have emerged as a potential destination for the striker, with Tony Pulis looking for reinforcements late in the window.

Spurs will be looking to recoup most of the fee they paid for Janssen, meaning that West Brom may have to break the club-record fee they spent to land Nacer Chadli from Tottenham last summer.

With Salomon Rondon unconvincing in attack, Pulis could add Janssen to fellow summer signing Jay Rodriguez to boost his options in the final third, though negotiating with Daniel Levy may not be easy.
