Speculation surrounds the futures of Danny Rose and Luke Shaw.
According to The Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur will look to keep Manchester United target Danny Rose in January – and that may leave Luke Shaw to re-join Southampton.
Tottenham may have lost Kyle Walker to Manchester City in a big-money deal over the summer, but they did manage to keep hold of left back Rose – despite him telling The Sun that he is interested in moving back up north.
Rose is just coming back from injury, but he is already a wanted man ahead of the January transfer window, with Manchester United allegedly keen to lure him to Old Trafford.
However, The Mirror report that Tottenham will attempt to block Jose Mourinho’s move for Rose in January, just as they did when the Red Devils boss came calling for midfielder Eric Dier over the summer.
Many had believed that United would send Luke Shaw to Tottenham in a part-exchange deal for Rose, but with Spurs adamant that they will stay strong, that could be off the table.
Shaw was quoted by Sky Sports last week as saying that he wants to work with Pochettino again, and even feels that his former Southampton boss wants to work together again too, but a deal doesn’t look likely unless Spurs relent on Rose’s future.
Instead, The Mirror claim that Shaw could now end up returning to Southampton as he is keen to return to the south, almost four years since leaving St. Mary’s Stadium for United.
With Manchester City keen on Southampton’s Ryan Bertrand, the Saints could line Shaw up as a replacement, with the left back merry-go-round potentially in full swing in January.
