Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly pursuing Bayer Leverkusen ace Leon Bailey.

According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur hold an interest in Bayer Leverkusen star Leon Bailey – despite a huge £60million asking price on his head.

Bailey, 20, has already travelled around Europe since leaving Jamaica in 2011, as he has been on the books of Austrian side FC Liefering, Slovakian side Trencin, Belgians KRC Genk and now German outfit Bayer Leverkusen.

The Bundesliga side swooped to sign Bailey for £17.5million in January 2017 having impressed in Belgium with 16 goals in 77 games, and he has become a star since heading to Germany.

Bailey hit 12 goals and six assists this past season, dazzling fans with his blistering pace and flair on the ball, emerging as one of the top young wingers in world football.

Unsurprisingly, Bailey – whose international future is up in the air as he is refusing to represent Jamaica – is now attracting interest from other clubs, and the Daily Mail claim that Tottenham are particularly keen, alongside a host of Premier League rivals.

It’s claimed that Bailey’s £60million asking price will make negotiations ‘difficult’ for Spurs, but chairman Daniel Levy should certainly be looking to smash the club’s transfer record on Bailey.

He possesses all the speed and skill that Tottenham have been looking for in the final third, given strong links to the likes of Ryan Sessegnon and Wilfried Zaha in recent years.

Bailey fits the profile of what Spurs want in the transfer market, and whilst he comes at a huge price, the Jamaican’s form in Germany suggests he may just be worth a huge outlay for Spurs, giving Mauricio Pochettino another exciting attacker to work with for years to come.
