According to The Telegraph, Tottenham Hotspur’s move to sign Swansea City defender Joe Rodon could come right down to the wire this week.

The Daily Mail reported on Saturday evening that Rodon is expected to secure his move to Spurs this week in a deal worth around £13million.

Spurs started talks for Rodon a week ago, but haven’t been forced to rush yet given that the EFL deadline is this coming Friday.

Now though, Spurs have just a few days to get the deal done, and whilst the Mail are confident a deal will be done, The Telegraph aren’t quite so sure.

They claim that the move may come down to the wire, with Spurs and Swansea still some way apart on their valuations of the defender.

Deals between Premier League and Championship clubs allegedly haven’t moved on very much given that players are off on international break, with efforts now being ramped up.

Spurs are stepping up talks for Rodon in an effort to bridge the price gap, though Daniel Levy only has a matter of days to get the Welshman signed up.

The 22-year-old has played against England and Ireland over the international break, and may have impressed on his way to keeping a clean sheet against Ireland on Sunday.

Tall, strong but also adept on the ball, Rodon looks to be a major talent for the future, and Spurs are looking for him to be Jan Vertonghen’s long-term replacement in North London; let’s see if they can come up with the money this week.
