Everton and Brentford have reportedly joined AC Milan in the hunt to sign Tottenham defender Japhet Tanganga, who could leave north London this summer.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Premier League duo have entered the race for the England U-21 international, with Tanganga a player who Antonio Conte could potentially sell this summer for the right offer, with Milan also in the chase for the centre-back.

As per the report, the Serie A title winners are looking to repeat their success with Fikayo Tomori by signing another underused England talent from a top Premier League side, and Tanganga fits the bill for what Milan are looking for the in the transfer market.

In Tomori, Milan have one of the best defenders in Italy and arguably the best-performing English centre-back over the last 12 months, and the Rossoneri believe they can emulate this story with Tanganga, though they now face competition from Everton and Brentford for the Tottenham man’s signing.

With a reported price tag of £21m, Everton and Brentford will have to break the bank to sign Tanganga, who last season played across numerous defensive positions under both Conte and Nuno Espirito Santo, though injuries were a constant problem for the youngster.

Indeed, Tanganga has proven multiple times to be a quality Premier League defender, yet with Conte unlikely to start the youngster on a regular basis, the 23-year-old Hackney-born star could be better off leaving his boyhood club this summer for greener pastures.

Milan headed into this summer on Cloud 9 after winning their first Scudetto in over a decade, yet the transfer window has been somewhat quiet for the Italian giants, with Divock Origi the club’s only major arrival, yet the San Siro side will feel confident in signing Tanganga lover Everton and Brentford.

After all, the immense success of Tomori will inspire Tanganga to make the move to northern Italy, and Milan more than have the funds to secure the defender’s signature, with the prospect of UEFA Champions League football also an enticing one for the centre-back.
