According to German newspaper Bild (subscription required), Wolfsburg have submitted a bid of €30m (£25.6m) for Tottenham Hotspur winger Son Heung-min – but Everton and Leicester City are both keen on the player as well.

Son, 24, only left Germany last summer as Tottenham splashed out to snap him up from Bayer Leverkusen, where he had hit 29 goals in 87 games following a 2013 switch from Bundesliga rivals Hamburg.

The South Korean international ended his first season as a Tottenham player with a decent record of eight goals and five assists, but he was largely used as a substitute behind Erik Lamela and Christian Eriksen for much of the campaign.

Now, speculation surrounds Son’s future, with The Mirror claiming that Spurs could take the surprise move to sell the winger before Wednesday’s transfer deadline, just one year into his five-year deal at White Hart Lane.

After selling Andre Schurrle to Borussia Dortmund, Wolfsburg are being heavily linked with a move to take Son back to the Bundesliga – and German newspaper Bild claim that they have now offered Tottenham a deal worth €30m (£25.6m) for Son, though whether chunks of that deal are in add-ons is unclear.

Receiving their money back may be tempting for Spurs, but chairman Daniel Levy could yet see a bidding war spark as the report adds that two Premier League rivals – Everton and Leicester City – are also looking to land Son.

Everton appear to be in the market for a left-sided winger under Ronald Koeman, and Son fits the bill for the newly-rich Toffees after Farhad Moshiri’s investment, whilst Leicester could look to add another talented attacker alongside Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez.

Whether Levy would be so willing to sell Son to a Premier League rival remains to be seen, but Wolfsburg are believed to have real competition for Son’s signature – and their written offer is their first concrete move to win the race for him.
