Tottenham Hotspur reportedly want Monaco forward Kylian Mbappe.

According to The Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur have joined the race to sign Monaco wonderkid Kylian Mbappe after a remarkable season so far.

Spurs’ title hopes took a major hit with a 2-0 defeat Liverpool on Saturday, as their nine-game unbeaten run in the Premier League came to an end at Anfield.

Again, Tottenham’s lack of quality depth was clear, as manager Mauricio Pochettino had few options to change the game late on, with more attacking options needed given that Vincent Janssen has still yet to score a goal from open play since a big-money move from AZ Alkmaar last summer.

Now, The Mirror report that Pochettino is keen on another striker, as Monaco’s Kylian Mbappe is believed to be a summer target for Tottenham.

Mbappe, 18, has been on the books with Monaco since 2013, having joined the club from AS Bondy via a spell in the famous Clairefontaine academy.

The young forward made his breakthrough into the Monaco side last season, but has really hit the headlines this term with 11 goals and five assists in just 24 appearances, establishing himself as one of Europe’s top young talents.

A quick and clinical striker, Mbappe smashed a hat-trick against Metz on Saturday, and it’s now claimed that Tottenham are ready to battle Europe’s elite in the race to sign Mbappe at the end of the season.

North London rivals Arsenal are also interested, and the report carries quotes from Gunners boss Arsene Wenger earlier this month, discussing whether Mbappe could be the next Thierry Henry.

Wenger called Mbappe ‘electric’ and admitted that Arsenal are tracking him, but with Tottenham now joining the race, we could see a fierce battle for the teenager’s signature at the end of the season.
