Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur could be in for a battle as they both chase Isco.
According to The Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur are plotting a January loan bid for Real Madrid ace Isco – but if he’s available, Chelsea are also believed to be keen.
Isco, 24, had established himself as one of the top young playmakers in Europe during a superb spell with hometown club Malaga, scoring 17 goals in 82 games for the La Liga side to generate real interest in his services.
Isco celebrates scoring for Real Madrid
It was Real Madrid who won the race for Isco’s signature back in the summer of 2013, and with 17 goals in his first two seasons, it looked like Isco was on his way to becoming a star in the Spanish capital.
However, Isco found the net just five times last season, and became a bit-part player under Zinedine Zidane – and having started the season in the same situation, it’s only an injury to Luka Modric which has seen Isco play first-team football this season.
Real Madrid’s Isco in action
With just over 18 months left on his contract at the Santiago Bernabeu, speculation surrounds Isco’s long-term future with Real Madrid – and Tottenham Hotspur are believed to be keen on signing him.
The Mirror report that Tottenham enquired about Isco’s availability back in August, but having failed to sign him then, they are now plotting a January loan move for the Spanish international as they look for more creativity in midfield.
Real Madrid’s Isco
Manager Mauricio Pochettino is believed to be a huge fan of Isco, but he could face competition from fierce rivals Chelsea.
Relations between Chelsea and Spurs are at an all-time low after an ill-tempered battle at Stamford Bridge back in May, and the Blues could create a fight off the pitch, as Antonio Conte’s men are believed to be keen on signing Isco if Real Madrid make him available in January.
