Tottenham Hotspur face having to pay up to £50 million to land Tariq Lamptey from Brighton & Hove Albion, the Daily Mail report.
Tottenham are said to be interested in the rapid right-back, who seriously impressed last season.
The Mail say that Tottenham will sell Serge Aurier this summer and then use the funds raised from his exit to bid for Lamptey.
A potential flaw in the plan?
However, whether they will have enough funding to convince Brighton to sell up remains to be seen.
The Seagulls are demanding big money for the right-back, who Graham Potter has described as ‘amazing’ (BBC Sport), which could take him out of Tottenham’s price-range.

Realistically Spurs are likely to struggle to fetch even the £23 million back that they spent to sign Aurier (BBC Sport), due to the inconsistent nature of his performances.
Lamptey could be an appealing buy for new boss Paulo Fonseca though.
The Portuguese manager likes to set his sides out in a 3-4-3 formation, and Lamptey looks ideally suited to the right wing-back slot.
