Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly closing in on a deal to bring Morne Nel to White Hart Lane.

South African site KickOff.com report that Tottenham Hotspur are on the verge of signing Morne Nel from Supersport United.

The 18-year-old South African had a trial at Spurs last year and he clearly did enough to convince the London side to bring him in on a permanent basis.

Nel is highly regarded in his homeland and he has made a number of appearances for Supersport, who are currently in mid-table in the South African top-flight this campaign.

Considered a technically adept midfielder, with a footballing intelligence beyond his years, Nel is likely to be brought in as one for the future rather than an immediate first-team starter, but he will be hopeful of progressing enough to make an impact.

Mauricio Pochettino has already proven that he is willing to trust the youth and Spurs looks a good place for prospects to develop at the moment.

If Nel does join White Hart Lane he will be hoping to have a better time there than his fellow compatriots, Steven Pienaar and Bongani Khumalo, who have both joined the Lilywhites and made little impact in recent years.
