Reports from Turkey suggest that Tottenham Hotspur’s offer for Mehmet Topal is still very much on the cards.
On his way to Spurs? Mehmet Topal
Fenerbahce midfielder Mehmet Topal is still expected become a Tottenham Hotspur player this summer, according to Turkish site Futbolarena.
It was reported last month by Fanatik that Spurs had agreed a deal in principal for the Turkish midfielder once his contract expires, however the move has yet to fully materialise, and talk about the deal has fallen quiet in recent weeks.

But according to Futbolarena it seems the deal is still very much on the table, and that Topal is still likely to find himself at White Hart Lane come the new season.
Mehmet Topal’s contract is due to expire at the end of this month, after four successful seasons with Fenerbahce.
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is thought to be keen on bringing in Topal on a free
Topal has made 120 league appearances for Sarı Kanaryalar, winning the SuperLig, the Turkish Cup and the Super Cup following his return to Turkey after a spell at Valencia.
The midfielder, whose nickname is ‘the spider’ thanks to his long legs and ability to intercept passes, has also previously played for Fener’s fierce rivals Galatasary.
Would Topal be a good addition to the Spurs squad?
Topal is in Fatih Terim’s squad for the European Championships that begin on Friday, and he is expected to play a key role in helping Turkey to make out of a tough group alongside Croatia, the Czech Republic and cup holders Spain.
Terim may have to employ defensive midfielder Topal as an emergency centre half for the tournament, in order to solve an injury crisis in the Turkish back four.
