Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly set to snap up Bordeaux star Malcom.
According to Brazilian news outlet UOL Esporte, Tottenham Hotspur have now moved ahead of Arsenal in the race to sign Bordeaux star Malcom.
Malcom, 20, has become a star for Bordeaux following a 2016 move from Corinthians, with his performances this season particularly catching the eye.
The playmaker – who can play centrally or out wide – has hit seven goals and five assists in 20 Ligue 1 games this season, unsurprisingly attracting major interest.
Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for Malcom as they prepare for life after Alexis Sanchez, but it seems that he may end up joining North London rivals Tottenham instead.
UOL Esporte in Brazil report that Tottenham have moved ahead of Arsenal in the last few days, after Malcom’s representatives held a meeting with Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino this week.
It’s claimed that Pochettino’s charm offensive seemingly worked, vowing to turn Malcom into one of Europe’s top players inside the next three years if he does choose Tottenham.
A fee of €40million (£35million) rising to €50million (£44million) has allegedly been agreed between the two clubs, putting Malcom another step closer to joining Spurs.
However, it’s noted that Malcom may yet be loaned back to Bordeaux until the end of the season, with Spurs seemingly weighing up whether they want him to join immediately or ahead of next season.
