According to a report from The Telegraph, Tottenham are considering switching their attention from their pursuit of Ryan Sessegnon this summer and instead concentrating their efforts on getting Christian Pulisic from Borussia Dortmund.

It always looked likely that the superb Sessegnon was going to be playing Premier League football next season after an incredible couple of years in Fulham’s first-team. Some called for the 18-year-old to get into the England squad for this summer’s World Cup off the back of his form in the Championship.

The Telegraph reports that Spurs had been leading the race to sign the winger, but Fulham’s triumph at Wembley in the play-off final has thrown a spanner in the works with the Cottagers ready to demand at least £50 million before they sanction Sessegnon’s exit.

The Telegraph adds that Tottenham are now considering switching their focus towards trying to sign Pulisic from the Bundesliga giants. The USA international has also enjoyed a superb year for his club, scoring four goals and providing five assists at the Westfalenstadion. Interestingly, the report adds that Dortmund value Pulisic at £50 million.

Dortmund’s valuation certainly suggests that Spurs will find it just as problematic trying to get Pulisic in as they would trying to tempt Sessegnon away from Craven Cottage.

Both players look set to enjoy sensational careers – both are clearly good enough to play regularly at the highest of levels – so getting either in this summer has the potential to be a fantastic move for Spurs. And while there is an element of risk spending £50 million on either given that neither has played Premier League football, either deal has the potential to be a stroke of genius if Daniel Levy can get something done.
