Manchester United are reportedly eyeing a bid for Tottenham’s Danny Rose.
According to The Independent, Tottenham Hotspur are not interested in taking Luke Shaw in a part-exchange deal for Danny Rose.
Spurs ace Rose has become one of English football’s top full backs since Mauricio Pochettino’s appointment in 2014, but he is being strongly touted with a move away from North London.
Rose told The Sun back in August that he wasn’t impressed with his wages or Tottenham’s transfer policy, and even hinted that he would be open to leaving for a club in the north of England.
The Independent now report that Manchester United want to firm up their interest in Rose in January, with Jose Mourinho keen to add another left back despite Ashley Young’s performances.
However, Spurs would want around £50million for Rose, and it’s claimed that they aren’t interested in taking United left back Luke Shaw in part-exchange either.
Shaw had been touted for a move to Spurs given his struggles with United and the fact that he thrived under Spurs boss Pochettino at Southampton, but after nearly four years of struggle at Old Trafford, it seems that the Tottenham boss is looking elsewhere.
Sky Sports claimed last week that Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon is their top target to replace Rose if he does go, and prioritising the 17-year-old over Shaw could be a smart move from Pochettino.
Rather than attempting to rejuvenate Shaw’s career, landing an up-and-coming wonderkid like Sessegnon – whose pace and attacking ability could make him ideal to replace Rose – may be a clever move from Pochettino, focusing on his future rather than the past with Shaw.
