Arsenal are very confident of beating Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool to the signing of Yves Bissouma, according to a report from The Daily Star.
The English publication claimed last night that Arsenal are in pole position to sign the 24-year-old in a £30 million deal.
It adds that Tottenham had made contact – along with West Ham and Everton – with the Seagulls over signing the midfielder who, according to The Sunday World, was in negotiations about a move to Liverpool.
Arsenal had always seemed favourite to sign Bissouma after Football London claimed in January that the Emirates Stadium was his preferred destination, with The Star adding last night that Gunners boss Mikel Arteta views him as a perfect partner for Thomas Partey in midfield.
Tottenham’s reported interest is quite intriguing, it has to be said.
Spurs haven’t been among the clubs heavily linked with a move for the Albion star, so to reach out is interesting to say the least.
Bissouma showcased his ability with a brilliant performance in the 2-0 victory over Leeds United at the Amex Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Earlier this week, the player dropped a hint regarding a potential exit by saying that he was a Brighton player ‘for the moment’ which, in the world of football, is code for saying ‘I could leave’.
If the £30 million aspect is true, it’s a potential bargain for Arsenal and it’ll be fascinating to see whether it’s going to materialise for Arteta and Edu.
