Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on Sunderland striker Josh Maja, but face competition from the likes of Southampton and Manchester City.

Maja has been a beneficiary of the Black Cats dropping into League One after back-to-back relegations. He has been given a good run in Jack Ross’ side, and he has taken that chance with both hands.
The 19-year-old has scored nine goals in 12 appearances in the league this season, including four in his last four. His form has left Sunderland third in the table, four points off top spot.

Maja may be an unproven talent, but he is unquestionably making a fantastic start to life in the Sunderland first-team – and that form makes him worth the gamble for the likes of Spurs and Pep Guardiola’s men, especially as he could arrive for a fraction of what a player showing his form would normally cost.
For Tottenham, the fact that Maja is shining in League One should certainly not put them off the thought of a potential deal. He is clearly aware of how to find the back of the net, and it cannot be forgotten how well the deal to take Dele Alli from the third tier has turned out for Pochettino’s side.
